Important Safety Notes

When venturing into wild camping, be mindful of overgrown areas—if a spot is dense with Okinawan shrubbery, it's best to move on to avoid damage to your vehicle or equipment. The fast-growing wilderness can be unforgiving, and any damage sustained while driving through jungle-like areas won't be covered by insurance.

Also, remember to follow the "leave no trace" principle. Respect the local community by avoiding parking in entrances or exits, and always be courteous to residents who share this beautiful land with you.

Weather Planning

Must-Have Weather App

For choosing the perfect camp spot, we rely on a brilliant app called Windy. It's one of the best for detailed, real-time weather conditions, and it's in English! We highly recommend downloading and getting familiar with it before your trip. With Windy, you can stay ahead of the elements and find the ideal spot to camp during your rental period. It's like having your own weather guru in your pocket!

Seasonal Wind Patterns

During the summer, when the winds are calm, it's a good idea to camp in areas where the breeze comes from the sea (onshore winds) to stay cool. However, if the winds pick up or are stronger, it's better to find shelter on the opposite side of the island where the wind is blocked (offshore winds). This will help protect you from strong gusts and keep your camp more comfortable. During Spring, Autumn and Winter consider again offshore wind spots.
